Women’s National Team Rolls Latvia; Faces Germany for 5th Place

The Irish Women’s National team cruised to victory over Latvia on Thursday, winning 14-3. The Green Machine will face Germany in the 5th place game on Saturday, 15 August at 9:00 Nymburk local time.

Seven different players notched points in the match. Robyn Morris and Claire Halliday each had 1 goal and 2 assists. Rachel Ward had 4 goals. Tori Devine and Devin O’Leary each had 1 goal. Caroline Peters tallied a tournament-high, 6 goals.

The offensive output was powered by Irish prowess on the draw; 13 of 17 draws went to the Green Machine. Schyler Neale and Caroline Peters each hauled in 4. Breada Farrell grabbed another 3.

Defensively, the Irish caused 14 turnovers, further limiting the Latvian attack. Caroline Peters and Breada Farrell each had 4 and Rachel Ward had 3. Pamela Smithwick, Schyler Neale and Olivia Jackson contributed another 3. Ashley DeFlumere had 6 saves.
