DUNDALK, COUNTY LOUTH — Though forced indoors by frigid winter weather, Ireland’s full squad of
National Team players started training for the 2010 FIL Men’s World Championships next July with
a weekend mini-camp Jan. 8 – 10, and a very successful fund-raising night on Saturday.

“We accomplished everything that we set out to,” said National Team Director, John Cavanaugh. “The team
practiced hard and showed a lot of character.” National Team Head Coach Tim Weir added “the weekend
developed a lot of team chemistry, and that will only grow come July and the World Championships.”

In addition to the National Team competing in the FIL Championships, Ireland will field a side known
as the “White” or “Developmental” Team in the Elite Open Division of the Festival of Lacrosse Tournament,
also in Manchester, July 17-21. Development Team Leader and Assistant Coach Colm Murphy, along with
Cavanaugh and Weir, assessed 18 candidates for the squad between the National Team’s training
sessions on Saturday afternoon of the mini-camp. The player candidates also had a special opportunity
to work on their game skills with National Team members.

Saturday night’s fund-raising “Pub Quiz” was organized by National Team midfielder Sean Bodie at the
Garda Social Club in Dublin. Approximately 80 supporters of Irish Lacrosse divided in to 14 teams
participated in the event.
