Irish Lacrosse Foundation and Captain Lax Team Up!

It is through the close working relationship of Ireland Lacrosse and the Irish Lacrosse Foundation that we continue to grow the sport of lacrosse in Ireland. The ILF not only raises the awareness of Ireland Lacrosse in America but through a very kind donation we were able to buy much needed equipment to help new players and clubs get started.
Through this kind donation from the ILF we were able to purchase new sticks, gloves, helmets and balls from Captain Lax
www.captain-lax.com, a lacrosse equipment supply company based in Germany. We also had helmets previously donated from the ILF which were missing chin straps, we were able to purchase new chin straps and so put the helmets back in circulation.

The start of the academic year is a busy time for Ireland Lacrosse as most of our teams are based in universities, and the start of the academic term provides the best opportunity to recruit new players.  This year we are continuing to work to build newly-established programmes, including at Queens University Belfast, Trinity College Dublin, the Dublin Business School and in Cork, and it is critical that we are able to supply equipment to these new teams.
In addition, there is an exciting new entry into our annual schedule in the 2011-2012 season which is the Beginner Blitz. The Blitz took place on Saturday, 1st October at University College Dublin.  The Beginner Blitz was an opportunity for brand new players – men and women – to come along and learn the basic skills of the game from some of our Ireland Lacrosse Level 1 qualified coaches.
The day which included a clinic for new players, as well as a small 8 v 8 tournament, followed by a social event that night to help further integrate new players into the Ireland Lacrosse fold.  The recently purchased equipment was put to great use for the Beginner Blitz, and greatly assisted in making the event a successful and enjoyable day for all involved.
