The teams played a 2-2 third quarter and it would  be the high flying offence of the Avengers that would see the team run out to a 14-7 win.

In the battle of the two schools it would be the organisation and skill of UCD that would see them get the upper hand on their west coast rivals.

Despite a tentative start, UCD broke the deadlock after 5 minutes on the first of the game for UCD’s Tadhg Bolger. Ciaran Boylan would restore his coaches faith after serving a two minute penalty for a late hit on NUI Galway’s Tim Segal by scoring a well placed goal. UCD would take a 3-1 lead into the second quarter after Stephen Lee-Cheong would grab on back just before the break.

It was UCD that would turn it on in the second quarter grabbing 5 more before the half time break. t would be Galway’s Ryan Doran who took the initiative in the third grabbing a couple of goals back for the Galway outfit. Though this would be too little too late as the skill and organisation of UCD would see them march out to a 12-6 win.

Tadhg Bolger had his best game in a UCD uniform registering 5 goals and leading all scorers. NUI Galway’s Ryan Doran earned a hattrick in the loss.

UCD Scorers: Tadhg Bolger (5,0), Sean O’Shawnessy (0,5), Andrew Murphy (3,1), Ciaran Boylan (2,1), Eoin Parsons (1,2), Cian Rushe (1,0)
