DUBLIN, IRELAND
Ireland Lacrosse National Team Director John Cavanaugh reported today that Sarah Walsh has been appointed Head Coach of the 2015 Women’s National Lacrosse Team. The team will represent Ireland in the 2015 Women’s European Lacrosse championships being held in Nymburk, Czech Republic 6-16 August 2015. Coach Walsh had a stellar career as a player at Northwestern University, winning the NCAA Division 1 national title in 2005. Sarah later served as an assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts. Sarah played for Ireland in the 2012 European Championships, and then served as an assessor at the 2012 Women’s National Team Selection Camp and an assistant coach for the 2013 World Cup National Team. Sarah also directed Ireland’s October 2013 Women’s National Team Training Camp. Sarah presently is coaching at the club level as well as directing her own lacrosse program “Lacrosseover” in the Washington, DC area.
