Ireland Women’s Senior National Team Ready for Action at 2024 European Lacrosse Championship

BRAGA, PORTUGAL – The Senior Women’s National team has completed training camp, and begins pool play at the European Lacrosse Federation Championship, in Braga, Portugal on 11 July 2024. An intense four days of acclimation, training sessions, meetings, team bonding, and other off field activities have positioned the team to perform well in the coming 9 days!

The Girls in Green will see familiar opponents Austria and Czechia, while taking on Norway and tournament host Portugal. Playoffs begin on 16 July.

Head Coach Sarah Walsh said “We are heading into the 2024 European Championship with a strong mix of intensity, camaraderie, and pure fun. Our Team is united in a passion to play our best to represent Ireland on the international stage. Every practice the team pushes each other to reach new heights and connections. The eleven newcomers bring a fresh energy and enthusiasm that blends perfectly with the experience of the returners. We are ready to see our dedication, sprit and talent blend together on the field!”

The 2024 team sees half of the 2022 World Championship squad returning:

  • Amelia Heisler, Lafayette College
  • Clio Kerr, University of Nottingham
  • Nicola Kiely, Dublin Lacrosse Club

Five members of the 2023 U20 National Team will join the Senior ranks:

  • Ava Brosnan, Stanford University
  • Grace Harte, Queen’s University Belfast
  • Alanna Jackman, University College Dublin/Dublin Lacrosse Club
  • Riley Peterson, Brown University
  • Kiki Tormey, Brown University

The remaining six players are a competitive and diversely experienced group:

  • Holly Korn, Northwestern University/Dublin Lacrosse Club
