1Lacrosse Riggers off to Prague

On Thursday evening the 1Lacrosse sponsored Dublin Riggers will open their account at the 18th annual Ales Hrebesky Memorial box lacrosse tournament in Radotin, Czech Republic. The Riggers are also sponsored by Rocky O’Reillys Irish sport bar who has been with the team for the past two years.

The Riggers will once again will be fielding a very competitive side which features 9 returning players including: 2008 tournament All-star Sean Gibson, 2009 Defensive MVP Adam McGourty, and 3 time all-star selection goalie Mike Cregan.

Amongst the new comers Irish International and former Chicago Shamrox practice roster Brendan Gorman. Irish International and NUI Galway Standout Ryan Doran will bolster the team defense. They will be joined by Jr A. Brampton Excelsiors’ Daniel Patterson, Huntsville Hawk’s Cole Greenaway, and lefty Kevin Picken.

“All our guys are ready to go and for a lot of us, this is a stepping stone to the world’s in 4 weeks.” Said Riggers Captain Sean Gibson. Coach Martin Cregan said, “We have a tremendous opportunity and it will be imperative to get out to a good start against the Privateers on Thursday. We get a good result there and it sets things up nicely the rest of the way.”
