Matchday One Results

The Irish Lacrosse League got off to a flying start last weekend in St. Anne’s Park, Clontarf. This season saw a raft of changes to both the men’s and women’s leagues; with the men’s games moving to 80 minutes in length to meet international standards, and the women now playing 10-a-side games to encourage participation of more teams.

UCD and Prawns emerged victorious in the first round of games (UCD 16-7 Dublin; Prawns 12-4 Galway) to leave them sitting on top of the ILL. We had some impressive individual performances on the day, with Sean O’Shaughnessy (UCD; 4 goals & 1 assist), Danny Jones (UCD; conceding only 3 goals in 3 quarters), Mark Colgan (Prawns; 4 goals) and Jake Hobby Royle (Galway; 2 goals) impressing the most.

Dublin Avengers LC sit comfortably on top of the IWLL (women’s league) after two dominant performances over UCD Blue (20-1) and UCD White (18-3). UCD White takes second place after overcoming UCD Blue on an 11-7 scoreline.

Next up for the ILL is a trip out west to Galway, as Galway host UCD and Dublin look for their first victory against last year’s champions, Dublin Bay Prawns. The IWLL will have another gameday tournament, with possible representation from a NUI Galway women’s team.

See you in Galway on November 10th!!!
