Women’s Team Éire Head to Lake Placid

Lake Placid, New York, USA – The women’s developmental programme heads to the Lake Placid Summit Classic in Lake Placid, New York for some ramped up competition in anticipation of the Senior Women’s National Team trails for the 2017 World Cup.

With two teams, Team Éire and Irish Devo, Ireland Lacrosse looks to continue the commitment to players by providing more playing opportunities, increasing the level of competition, and furthering the recognition of the women’s programme. As a developmental team event, rosters are open to any and all players, with no citizenship requirements. Both teams will compete in the Women’s Open 2 division. Sarah Walsh, Women’s National Team head coach, and Catherine Conway, Women’s National Team assistant coach, will be directing and oranising the teams. The schedule can be found here.

Since 1990, the Lake Placid Summit Classic has been the premier summer event for university and post-university lacrosse players in the United States. Currently boasting 3 women’s divisions (Open 1, Open 2, Masters), and 11 men’s divisions (Open 1 to Past Masters), the event draws the best and most diverse group of players from around the United States.

The tournament starts Friday, 5 August. Team Éire kicks off at 8:30am EST, and Irish Devo starts at 10:30am. Regular updates will be posted to the Ireland Women’s Lacrosse Twitter and Instagram accounts. Be sure to follow along!
