Ireland Lacrosse Announces 2024 Women’s U20 and Senior National Team Callbacks

Dublin, Ireland – Ireland Lacrosse has selected the callback roster for Women’s National Team trials, to be held 28 & 29 October 2023, in Dublin, Ireland. A total of 40 North American player candidates were selected for the callback camp in Dublin. This is the largest and most talented group ever selected to advance. They will join Irish and United Kingdom based players in Dublin for a two-day National Team training camp and final team selection.

“Ireland Lacrosse is at an all time high in terms of skill and commitment. The push of new players at the U20 level was extraordinary, with talent loaded at every position. I’m excited for the National Team Training Camp in October and know that the final selection process will be a tough one” said U20 National Team Head Coach Eileen Ferry.

Player candidates are vying for roster spots on the Senior Women’s National Team and the Under 20 Women’s National Team. Both teams will compete in Championship events during Summer 2024. The Senior Team will head to Braga, Portugal for the European Championship, 10-20 July 2024. The U20 Team is off to Hong Kong for the World Championship, 15-25 August 2024.

Senior National Team Head Coach Sarah Walsh said “The two sessions in North America showed tremendous talent, passion, and the highest level of competition I have seen since joining Ireland Lacrosse in 2012. Our goal is always to grow the game in Ireland, and I cannot wait to see all players together in Dublin. There are increasing opportunities to represent Ireland on the international lacrosse stage – Seniors, U20s, Sixes, and Box – and these trials, along with Dublin trials, show a bright future for Ireland Lacrosse.”

The U20 National Team is coming off a highly successful 2023 campaign, where they finished 5th overall at the U21 European Championship, the highest finish for an Irish Women’s National team in European competition. The Senior team most recently competed in the 2022 World Championship, where they advanced to the Championship bracket, and ultimately defeated Germany in double overtime to finish 13th overall.
